IWONET conducts research and attends meetings and conferences locally, nationally
and internationally to give indigenous women a voice and representation where their
interests are at stake. IWONET is involved in the regional, national and international
processes that affect the lives of indigenous women especially on issues of environment
and development such as food, climate change, habitat, health and education.
IWONET implements actions for capacity building to empower indigenous women to
participate effectively in meetings and conferences and become advocates for their own
communities. Advocacy is vital in spreading awareness of indigenous struggles and
securing rights of indigenous women.
